Best High Def. for the money!
I'll keep this short as I can as there are a lot of reviews out there to read. If you are reading this you are probably researching as I did.

Know that I am not an audio or video expert, but a college educated consumer, and I research heavily for purchases of this cost, so here goes.

I agonized over the choice of what technology to go with as the newer 120hz LCD technology rocks, Plasma looked really great as well, and the DLP tv's looked the worst ( in the stores ). My goal was that I wanted as large of a super High Def. screen that fit in a reasonable price range. Get it - best bang for the buck. Now what did catch my eye was the clarity and lack of grain in the picture on the DLP's and price vs size, but they were not very bright, and off angle viewing was not near as good as Plasma or LCD - when comparing these in the stores. So while doing extensive research online I found others always conferred what I saw and made note of the huge difference in brightness at home ( for those who purchased DLP ).
There were mainly 3 things that sold me on DLP:
LCD lamp in the Samsung DLP - hl61a750;
lack of grain in the picture;
low power consumption when in use ( and less heat ).
I was still paranoid that when I got the set the picture would not be bright enough and off angle would be bad, but went ahead with the purchase anyhow because of what I'd read and the other qualities this technology brings.
Turns out everything is better than expected. The picture is plenty bright and I don't have the brightness up but about halfway; picture quality is awesome, even off angle viewing, although I am sure the 120 LCD panels would be brighter and such at an off angle, etc. but they cost a whole lot more. Oh yea, a 61" screen is huge in a normal sized room. Our room the TV is in is a rectangle L - 18' W - 14'. Viewing is about 8-10' away, but even at a couple feet away the image is really great, off angle which for us is in the kitchen at about 10' to the side of the set and about 10-15' diagonally away is perfectly fine. Satellite viewing is at 720p and is great, but step up to 1080i ( local HD channels ) and the picture is stunning. Don't have blue-ray for 1080p yet, but I expect it'll be just another step of stunning. That being said - picture quality depends on the input. Poor quality input poor picture output. Samsung's menu, settings, and connections are pretty easy to navigate, so no problems there. There are a lot of settings that can be tweaked however, good or bad, I like that kinda thing - more is better.
Forgot to mention earlier, but check out the movie theater's. The ones I have been to are using DLP technology.
Kudos to Amazon for getting the purchase from them to me in a more than efficient and quality manner. The box didn't even have any dents.

Everything I expected
I wanted to replace a 51" Panasonic rear projection TV in our Florida room with a similiar size HDTV. I picked this one on the basis of reviews that said it worked well in a bright area, and I fully concur. It is much better than the Panasonic was. I also was attracted by the LED light source as I always thought the bulb type units required too much maintenance. Off axis viewing is much better than I expected, and much better than Mitsubishi units that I have looked at. Delivery from VANS was prompt and in good condition.

Good value
Been doing some research about DLP HDTV and was initially apprehensive about the projection bulb which had a life of about 1+ year. When Samsung came out with the LED light source (new)I bought the 61" set. I had it before Christmas and am overall happy with it so far. Setup was easy but had some problems intially as the cable box did not come with HDMI connections.(Not a Samsung problem). I had to get a new box with the cable people and picture was great. Only comment was the sound which was OK for regular listening but not for concerts DVD. Probaly will get the Samsung home theatre system later. A good buy for a 61" HDTV.

You get what you pay for? This TV in an Plasma and LED version is at least $3,000-$5,000 more. I paid about $1900, I've had it for 5 months now, a bargain indeed.
