The Bodum Double Wall Assam Shot/Espresso Glasses are 3 ounces in size and can be used for cold or warm beverages. Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. This size also works nicely for sake and green tea. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. The double wall also makes for a nice votive candle holder, eliminating wax spills and the need for a coaster. Bodum’s insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional “soda-lime” glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glass doesn’t need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it.

Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

Broken glass
The description says they are borosilicate glass which is strong. Today after making a shot I put the glasses (like I always do) in a tub of water in the sink. When I later went to wash them one was broken, the outer shell had broken off. It feels like plastic. I never dropped them and never use too hot water.
Not impressed as i have used them only this year maybe ~100 times.
Bodum's web site say they do not warranty glass but i emailed them anyway.

Great Design
Great Espresso glasses. Everyone I've shown has commented on how the espresso seams to levitate inside the glass.
I am an owner of a coffee shop and was hoping that this could be a great way to serve straight espresso; unfortunately, the glass is extremely lightweight and fells like it could easily be broken. So, I can't risk letting the public handle them (the little ceramic cups work fine anyway).
I would keep in mind how fragile these glasses are, but they look impressive and I honestly believe they keep my espresso warmer than a traditional shot glass. All-in-all, a good product, worth the money.
Beautiful and Functional
I bought them together with the Bialetti Brikka because the two match the capacity of that espresso brewer. These cups are beautifully made and have and unusual glass gleam, probably because of the borosilicate glass. They seem sturdy and definitely have slow thermal transfer. You can hold these bodums full of hot liquid without the need for a handle.
You may now take longer to sip your espresso
When I pulled this delicate-looking cup out of its packaging I feared for its durability--it is quite elegant and light-weight--but I bought it to use it, so I packed one in my tank bag for the daily ride to the espresso shop (30 cents off for bringing your own cup). That was a year and a half ago. The cup has served flawlessly. It is the perfect size for a double-shot of espresso and I'm amazed at how long the shot retains heat. Get lost reading an article (or pondering great things)? Your espresso will still be warm. Perhaps the durability I've enjoyed was luck of the draw, as other reviewers report flaws; but then again, I don't subject the cup to ice or boiling. In any event, to whoever the glass-blower was on the day mine was made, "Thank you."
